Henry Eden, 91,

Henry R. Eden, 91, of Kankakee, died Tuesday (July 7, 1998) at Manor Care Health Services in Kankakee.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at the Kankakee Chapel of the Schreffler Funeral Homes, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday. The Rev. Mark Peters will officiate.
Burial will be in Kankakee Memorial Gardens.
Memorials may be made to Our Savior Lutheran Church in Kankakee, where he was a member.
He was born Sept. 26, 1906, in Danforth, the son of Reiner and Fredericka Frietag Eden.
He married Blossom C. Richter Sept. 11, 1934, in Kankakee and she died April 9, 1980.
He then married Juanita Richter on Jan. 12, 1982, in Seminole, Fla., and she survives, residing in Mesa, Ariz.
Mr. Eden retired in 1973 as a vice president from First Trust and Savings Bank of Kankakee after 50 years of service.
He was a member of the Kankakee Lions Club; sang with the Kankakee Civic Choir; was treasurer for United Cerebral Palsy; was an officer in the Kankakee County Bankers Association; and a member of the Kankakee area Personnel Managers Group.
Also surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Richard Diersen of Kankakee; a stepdaughter and spouse, Paula and Gerald Maybee of Arizona; two granddaughters; and two great-granddaughters.
Five sisters and one brother are deceased.
He enjoyed playing golf, tennis and bowling.

Ethel Sidener

MOMENCE - Ethel L. Sidener, 82, of Momence, died Tuesday (July 7, 1998) at Riverside Medical Center, Kankakee.
Visitation will be from 3-5 and 7- 9 p.m. today at Cotter Funeral Home in Momence, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday. The Rev. Paul Crolius will officiate.
Burial will be in Mt. Airy Cemetery in Momence.
Memorials may be made to the Momence Honor Guard.
She was born March 16, 1916, in New Liberty, the daughter of David A. and Alice P. Densch Henson. Her husband, Lester E. Sidener, whom she married June 26, 1937, in Metropolis, died Aug. 3, 1994.
Mrs. Sidener co-owned and operated Jean's Lunch Restaurant in Momence and had worked for the Baker and Taylor Co. in Momence.
Surviving are three daughters and sons-in-law, Ina and Ray Toma and Shirley and Dennis Reaman, all of Momence, and Vickie and Allan Luhman of Manteno; one son and daughter-in-law, Fred and Suszanne Sidener of Momence; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Val and Elizabeth Henson of Lima, Ohio, and Delbert and Bernadine Henson of Munster, Ind.; 11 grandchildren; 11 great- grandchildren; and one great-great- grandchild; and many nieces and nephews, including Charles and Paula Henson of Momence.
Two brothers, two sisters, one son and two grandchildren are deceased.
She was a member of Helpmates of Kankakee.

Theresa Chaney

Theresa M. Chaney, 71, of Margate, Fla., formerly of Bradley, died Tuesday (July 7, 1998) at Provena St. Mary's Hospital, Kankakee.Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, with a wake service at 7 p.m., at Clancy- Gernon Funeral Home, Bourbonnais.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated by the Rev. Douglas Hauber, 10 a.m. Friday, at St. Joseph Church, Bradley, where she had been a member.
Inurnment will be in All Saints Cemetery, Bourbonnais.
Memorials may be made to her church.
She was born Sept. 26, 1927, in Kankakee, the daughter of Henry and Bernadette Marcotte Marcotte. Her parents are deceased.
Surviving are her husband, Richard R. Chaney, whom she married Jan. 8, 1949, at St. Rose of Lima Church; one son, Richard J. Chaney of Bradley; five daughters and four sons-in-law, Marilyn and Mark O'Barske of Canton, Ga., Sharon and Richard Merten of Bourbonnais, Kathy and Scott Walter of Virginia Beach, Va., Debbie and Rick Varney of Kankakee and Jan Countryman of Alpharetta, Ga.; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Marie Rudolf of Bourbonnais and Pauline and Larry Ryan of Bradley; one brother and sister-in-law, Louis and Bonnie Marcotte of Bradley; 12 grandchildren.
One grandson, Christopher Glass, is deceased.
Mrs. Chaney was a former employee of General Foods Coupon Division.
She was a member of the Ladies of the Moose and Riverside Medical Center Auxiliary.

Dorothy Staley

JOLIET - Dorothy C. Staley, 91, of Joliet, the relative of area residents, died Monday (July 6, 1998) at Provena St. Joseph Medical Center.
She was born in Joliet in 1906.
Her husband, Vernon V. Staley, died in 1983.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Thursday at the Fred C. Dames West Chapel, Joliet, where services will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, Joliet.
Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.
Surviving are one daughter and two sons-in-law, Jackie and John A. Costenaro of Crest Hill and Thomas (Jean) Borello of Elwood; six grandchildren including John Costenaro of Coal City; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters; one brother; and many nieces and nephews.
A daughter, Patricia Borello, who died in 1990; three sisters; and one brother; are deceased.

James Sparks

JOLIET - James D. ''Sparky'' Sparks, 42, of Joliet for the past 12 years, died Monday (July 6, 1998) at his residence following a long illness.
He was born in Gary, Indiana. His mother, Elizabeth Sparks resides in Bourbonnais.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving over 8 years and attaining the rank of Sergeant.
He was employed by the Illinois Department of Corrections as a correctional officer at Stateville Correctional Center and the Illinois Youth Center, Joliet as a youth supervisor.
Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday, at the Fred C. Dames West Chapel, Joliet, where services will be at 11 a.m. Friday.
Burial will be in Elmhurst Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Joliet Area Community Hospice.
Surviving are his wife of 11 years, the former Gina Claywell; two daughters, Elizabeth and Claudia; his mother; two brothers and sister-in- law, Steven and Nancy Sparks of Orland Park and Richard Sparks of Bourbonnais; three sisters and brother-in-law, Sheila Gidlund, Pam and Ed Gruenauer and Lisa Dalaly, all of Manhattan; and many nieces and nephews.
He enjoyed motorcycles and woodworking.

Margaret Jernigan

DWIGHT - Margaret Jernigan, of Dwight, died Tuesday (July 7, 1998) at her hone.
Born in Czechoslovakia, the daughter of John and Mary Zezulak, she is survived by her husband, John T. Jernigan; one son and daughter-in- law, Terry and Elaine Florczak; two daughters, Christine Clancy and Diane Denenberg; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one stepson, Ted Curtis; one stepdaughter, Judy Baich; six step-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mildred Hummer.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. Thursday until the 7 p.m. services at the R.W. Patterson Funeral Home, Braidwood Chapel. The Rev. Gretchen Stinebaugh will officiate. Cremation rites will be accorded.

Edgar Peters

PEOTONE - Edgar ''Salty'' Peters, 77, of Peotone, died Tuesday (July 7, 198) at Riverside Hospital in Kankakee.
Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. Thursday at the Fedde-Helfrich Chapel in Peotone.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at First Presbyterian Church of Peotone, where he was a member. The Revs. Dr. Harold Russell and Reinhold Heinrich will officiate.
Burial will be in Peotone Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to his church.
He was born March 24, 1921, in Sollitt, the son of Rudolph and Elizabeth Ekhoff Peters.
Mr. Peters retired in 1986 after 40 years with ComEd.
Surviving are his wife, the former Jeanette Norman, whom he married Oct. 18, 1942, in Peotone; two nephews and spouses, Dale and Helen Peters of West Branch, Mich., and Dennis and Cheryl Peters of Morris; one brother-in-law and two sisters-in- law, Charles and Josephine Gernentz of Manteno and Hilda Peters of Crete.
A brother, Martin Peters is deceased.
He was a veteran of World War II serving in the Army and was a member of Peotone American Legion Post 392.

Carl Chellson

Carl R. Chellson (Kjellson), 82, of Kankakee, formerly of St. Anne, Texas and Peotone, died Tuesday (July 7, 1998) at Miller Health Care Center, Kankakee.
There will be no visitation. Private graveside services will be held in Skyline Memorial Park Cemetery, Monee. The Rev. Richard L. Young will officiate.
He was born Sept. 3, 1915, in Chicago, the son of Carl Sigfrid and Tynne Alsted Kjellson.
His wife, the former Martha Jasa, died Aug. 9, 1969.
Mr. Chellson was retired from Montgomery Tank LInes, where he was a truck driver for many years.
Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Brenda Chellson of Campus and Thomas and Linda Chellson; one daughter and son-in-law, Jeannette and Darrel Richardson of Peotone; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
One brother and two sisters are deceased.

Erwin Barrie

BOONE, Iowa - Erwin Francis Barrie, 79, of Boone, Iowa, the brother of an area resident, died suddenly June 29, 1998, at the Boone County Hospital emergency room.
Services were held July 3 at Boone. The Boone Veterans Council conducted military honors at the graveside at Linwood Park Cemetery.
Schroeder Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He was born April 13, 1919, at Slayton, Minn., the son of Edward G. and Addrian Barrie.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army.
He worked as a mechanic at a car dealership and then started his own business, Barrie Auto Service, until retiring in the mid 1980s.
Surviving are his wife, the former Gladys Hein, whom he married on June 16, 1940, in Iowa; a son and daughter-in-law, Darwin and Mary Gardner Barrie of Aurora, Colo.; a daughter, Teresa Ann Barrie of Des Moines; a sister and brother-in-law, Waunita and Leo Williamson of Kankakee; and many nieces and nephews.
A brother, Edmond Barrie, is deceased.

Robert Misar

Robert C. Misar, 75, of Kankakee, died Tuesday (July 7, 1998) at his home.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Our Savior Lutheran Church.
Further arrangements are pending at the Kankakee Chapel of the Schreffler Funeral Homes.
Among his survivors is his wife, Phillis.
